The Labská Dam is situated in the upper part of the Elbe River, at the southern edge of Špindlerův Mlýn.

The reservoir was built during the 1910 - 1914 period as a flood protection. In the eighties, a 120-metre-long road bridge was erected over the bay; its highest pillar is 30 m tall. In 1994, a small water power plant was installed in the dyke, equipped with 4 turbines of total capacity equal to 471 kW.
