The Cistercian Order built their seat (monastery) here and the first mention of it dates back to the 12th century.

In the early 15th century, the monastery was burnt down by Crusaders and until the second half of the 16th century it was a ruin. Later, the construction of a chateau started here. In 1852, a brewery was placed here. 17 years later, the chateau burnt down and the building was completely adjusted to support the brewery. Towards the end of the 19th century, Klášter Brewery was among the seven largest breweries in Bohemia.

Tours of the brewery are organised all year round subject to a previous telephone appointment. Tours are available only in English.
