The equipment includes an amateur-designed 160/2500 mm refraction telescope purchased after 1990 from the estate of Mr. Vinš. The Czech Astronomical Society lent the Turnov Observatory a high-quality, Lichtenknecker 150/2250 mm refraction telescope. The telescopes are placed on a massive German parallactic assembly. The assembly was made in the early 1970s in Turnov (Sklářské srojírny a závody, Dioptra).
Both refraction telescopes have a chromospheric LUNT 60 mm telescope that was lent by SUNDISK and a 9x50 viewfinder. The Baader-Herschel prism is used to observe the photosphere of the Sun. In addition, extensive accessories are used (eyepieces, filters).
Portable binoculars are used during observations on the terrace or on the grounds of the observatory (90, 100, 125 mm), as are large Dobsonian telescopes (10 ", 12", 16 "). In the interior, you can see an original Coude telescope that is fully functional, but because of its weight, it is not too mobile.
Location: the observatory is located on Vrchhůra (the south-east part of Turnov, along road E442).
The observatory is open to the public every first Sunday of the month from 2 pm to 4 pm.
Evening observations can be arranged individually at the below telephone contacts.
