The garden and minizoo belonging to the House of Youth and Children in Mladá Boleslav is an oasis for botanist and zoologists in the middle of the industrial town. Numerous interesting animals, such as two caimans can be seen here. All little visitors love the Shetland pony mare. Visitors can also look forward to seeing ravens, tortoises, guineapigs, snakes, reptiles, squirrels, a goat, and a large number of birds and birds of prey.

Visitors can see more than 50 species of farm and wild animals, including exotic species, and subtropical and tropical utility plants, in the outdoor cages and inside the greenhouses of the minizoo. The premises include a rescue station for injured and handicapped birds of prey and owls.

In 2015, the outdoor part of the eco centre underwent comprehensive reconstruction and now offers further contact with nature to its visitors. The outdoor element playground is undoubtedly the most attractive feature for pre-schoolers and younger school children. They can experience direct contact with the elements without any limits. After putting in the necessary effort, the old manual pump rewards the children with the experience of water and wet sand, which is ideal for building dams and streams, if moms allow. Those who dare can experience intense contact with the cool and dark ground after venturing into the five-metre burrow. Children can set the birds flying in the sky into motion on the wind tower or use their breath to make hanging objects move and feel the power of air. Contact with fire is possible in the natural fire hut during organised events. All year round, children can build various structures from sand, stones, twigs and other natural materials in cooperation with other children or by themselves, hidden in the willow huts, and they can also whisper their secret messages into the ground phone.

The relaxing and educational part of the garden is equally interesting for adults and families with children. In addition to enjoying experiences, such as the tactile path for bare feet, the elevated flower bed with aromatic herbs to stimulate the smell and relaxation meadow, visitors can also find out about the basic biotopes of our nature, their plants and animals. You can visit mountains, dry heathland, pond, rocks and forest on one small area. You can draw inspiration for your own garden from the insect hotel or butterfly patch with plants offering not only nectar to the butterflies but also food for caterpillars, as the common stinging nettle does.

The newly built contact garden with a herd of small sheep is highly attractive for all children. Children who dare to enter the enclosure can feed the sheep with carrot purchased for a symbolic price of five crowns in the entrance building of the eco centre. The pony, goats, rabbits and guinea pigs in other parts of the premises can also be fed in the same manner.

The cosy cafe in the entrance building of the eco centre offers local affordably priced organic and Fair-Trade products. Entertainment for children is also provided in the cafe: they can try out a dark underground burrow with an otter, badger and rabbit, who live there, or hide in the hanging squirrel nest in the play corner for children.
