The first record of the village dates back to 1543, but it was probably founded a hundred years ago. The local church of St. George and former school are the only remains of a large village named Přáslavice, which vanished in the 15th century.
In 1841 a hydrotherapeutic spa was established there. The complex was named Bad Wartenberg. Around the middle of the 19th century its name was changed for Sedmihorky. In the 1870s Czech spa guests who admired the rare beauty of the surrounding landscape started to call the region Český ráj (Bohemian Paradise).
The dominant feature of the village is St. George's Church from the 14th century. Local natural attractions include the Bukovina Arboretum - originally a chateau garden founded in 1860 - 1862. Lovers of historical monuments may visit the ruin of Trosky, Valdštejn Castle or Hrubá Skála Castle. But you may set out on trips to see beauties of nature and historical monuments in every part of Český ráj.
