In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Železný Brod was an industrial town and its buildings also included a former chemical plant.

A brick building with a brick structure was built in 1910 by builder Vosátko. The building was most likely built for Josef Schaefer, who was a candle maker. Josef Schaefer´s successor, Martin Schaefer, led the company until 1945. After that, it became the seat of Železný Brod’s municipal services.
Currently, it is the seat of a private company.
