Bohemian Paradise
Welcome to the region of artists, visionaries, eccentrics and spiritualists ... a region emblazoned with numerous secrets and mysteries. You will learn most about that and the history of the town at the historical exhibition of the Municipal Museum in Nová Paka - Sucharda's House, which also hosts other interesting exhibitions.
In 2005, Nová Paka became part of the Bohemian Paradise Geopark. Its natural wealth can be admired in the Treasury of Gem Stones.
The town of Nová Paka is dominated by Convent chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, with its rosary stairway of 1737. This place also relates to a legend about finding a miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary in the nearby gold mines of Stupna. This Baroque building was built in the place of a simple chapel to honor her memory.
To the west of Nová Paka, there are ruins of the Castle Kumburk and Bradlec, to the north, there is a hillfort called Levín, to the east, there is a nature reserve called Sýkornice, and to the south, there is a protected habitat called “Hřídelecká Hůrka” and other digging fields of pastel-colored agates.
Nová Paka is also the birthplace of many eminent personalities – painters, sculptors, poets, and other artists, who were enchanted by the beauty of the Podkrkonoší landscape, which inspired them for their lifetime.
